Bradco Kitchens and Baths announces their membership to the US Green Building Council
Bradco Kitchens and Baths joins the ranks of today’s top eco-minded organizations to bring green buildings to everyone
Los Angeles, CA (February 20, 2008)– Bradco Kitchens & Baths and its subdivisions, TreBradco and Eli’s Tiles, are proud to announce that they are members of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC is a non-profit community of leaders working to make green buildings accessible to everyone.
“We are so proud to be a part of such a worthwhile organization” said Michael Kienzl, president of Bradco Kitchens and Baths. “We are constantly trying to bring awareness of environmental issues to our customers. Once they realize that eco-designed kitchens and baths can be lovely, livable and cost effective, it’s hard for them to say no.”
Resource Management
In alignment with the USGBC mission statement and guiding principles, Bradco Kitchens and Baths promotes environmental benefits by:
• improving air and water quality by offering formaldehyde free cabinetry and water filtration devices
• Reduce solid waste by continuing with recycling programs within their showroom and manufacturing facility
• Conserve natural resources by outfitting the facilities with energy efficient lighting and regulated electricity output
Dangers of Formaldehyde
Industry standard cabinets are constructed with wood containing formaldehyde. These products can release formaldehyde gas for up to 8 years. Newly constructed and remodeled homes usually have levels 2-3 times higher than the government’s acceptable limit even 3 years after the construction. “Once we learned about the dangers of formaldehyde, we began manufacturing our own custom, formaldehyde-free cabinets before there were any available in the US commercial market“ said Kienzl.
The dangers of formaldehyde are real, just ask the numerous Hurricane Katrina victims living in newly constructed homes and FEMA trailers. Nearly 86,000 families living in FEMA trailers across the Gulf have developed health problems due to the high levels of formaldehyde exposure. Formaldehyde is the leading cause of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), also known as Environmental Illness. MCS develops gradually as a person is repeatedly exposed to chemicals.
“We’re not just concerned with formaldehyde, we strive to reduce all the toxins in your home” says Kienzl. True to their word, Bradco uses low or no VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) finishes and sells a variety of eco-conscience products.
