The “2013 Cost vs Value Report” compiled by Remodeling Magazine reveals what kitchen and bath redos cost in Los Angeles and what they give back when you sell your home. These are the average costs of a midrange improvement. It is not what we charge you, which depends on the materials you choose and size of the remodel.
A bathroom remodel costs about $19,865 and returns 77 percent, or $15,333. This improves an existing 5-by-7-room bath with a 30-by-60-inches steel tub surrounded by 4-inch-square ceramic tile, standard white toilet, solid-surface vanity counter with integrated sink; ceramic tile floor, and vinyl wallpaper.
Adding a new 6-by-8-foot bath over a crawlspace with poured concrete walls costs $46,794 and gives back 76 percent, or $35,954.
